General Questions
- How many messages can be stored in my mailbox
at one time? - The number of messages that can be stored in a
mailbox is limited by the system’s capacity at a given time. It is the
responsibility of the individual users to keep their mailboxes cleaned
out to help better utilize the system’s capacity. Once the capacity
has been reached it will refuse to allow any more messages.
- How long will messages by stored in my mailbox?
- Messages will be deleted automatically after three days.
- My phone rings a quick ring once and then
goes straight to Audix? - Your calls have been accidentally forwarded
to Audix. You can do this when you have a fast finger doing *3 to delete
a message and accidentally touch the 2 key which is the command to forward
to Audix. To correct the situation, pick up the handset, and when you
hear the dial tone, press #2. You will hear 4 confirmation tones. When
you hear them hang up. Pick the handset back up and press a #3 and wait
for the 4 confirmation tones then hang up. It is important that you
hear the confirmation tones and make sure you break the dial tone between
doing the #2 and the #3 or forwarding will not be cleared.
- I accidentally deleted a message, can I get
it back? - Yes, before you hang up the phone you can press **U
(undelete) and the message will be saved. You must remember: Do
not hang up before the **U! Once you hang up the message
is gone.
- Why does my mailbox become unavailable to
me, and how do I regain access or I tried to get my messages and AUDIX
said, “Please contact administrator for help”? - If you, or someone
else, enters your password incorrectly 3 or more times AUDIX assumes
that someone is trying to break into your voice mailbox and will automatically
lock it. Contact Telecommunications at extension 3732 to clear
the lock out status of your voicemail. Telecommunications is the only
one authorized to clear a lock out status.
- Sometimes AUDIX will not answer, why?
- This simply means
AUDIX is busy. Hang up and try the call later.
