Campus Network Connecting with Windows |
Information
**Check to see if you have green link lights on the back of your ethernet
card - if you don't have link lights, you will not have a connection.

Make sure you have an ethernet cable plugged into your ethernet
card and the data port in the wall. If you are using a phone
cord, you will not gain access to the network.

Start your computer.

Select the Start menu > Settings > Control
Panel.

Double-click on the Network icon.

Remove all lines that begin with NetBeui or IPX/SPX - you don't need
them.

Click on the "Identification" tab - name your computer
your first initial and last name.

Click back to "Configuration".

Double-click on the line that begins with TCP/IP <name
of your ethernet card>.

Click on the IP Address tab. Set it to "Obtain IP address
automatically."

Click on the DNS tab. Select "disable DNS."

Click on the Gateway tab. Remove anything in it.

Click on the WINS tab. Disable WINS.

Restart your computer.
If you are using Internet Explorer, make sure you follow the
Connection Setup Wizard to configure your browser to connect through a
LAN (Local Area Network).
